WILLIAMSBURG – South Dundas council was issued a sober warning at the July 20 South Dundas council meeting.

No council member was surprised by the warning and all expressed the same significant concern.

OCWA has been managing the project to date through the environmental assessment process.

MORRISBURG – The 2010 celebration of Antiquefest drew over 1,500 locals and out of town visitors to the Morrisburg waterfront  during the opening weekend of Old Home Week.

“On the whole we were very pleased with this year’s Antiquefest,” said convenor Lion Mike Domanko, July 25. “It’s always great to have local people come out to support us, but this year we also saw a lot of tourists. I like to think that Old Home Week is part of the draw. We really want to bring people to this area, and all these events, including Antiquefest are great for our region.”

MORRISBURG – The best Canadian Tire store in the country is right here in Morrisburg.

Canadian Tire Corporation representatives were in town July 20 to reward the store and its employees for being the Best Small Store in Canada.

The competition, called the Great Canadian Tire Breakaway Challenge was initiated last November by Canadian Tire Corporation’s new President and CEO Stephen Wetmore.

According to Michel Proulx, Morrisburg Canadian Tire Store dealer, the competition between the stores has been a real driver behind raising the level of customer service and raising the level of sales.

An award is handed out each quarter to the top store as measured by customer service indexes and sales increases.

Across Canada there are 120 small stores.
