Midget House solid in third
MORRISBURG–The South Dundas Midget House Lions won two of their last three league games to post a third place finish in a very close East Division finale which ended with the Kemptville # 1 team in first place just four points ahead of the Lions.
On Saturday, February 6th, the Lions were in Westport where they defeated North Leeds 8-1.
The game was tied after the first period with North Leeds’ Philip Patterson scoring their lone goal at 8:33.
Derek Hutt put the Lions on the scoreboard late in the frame assisted by Zac Lalonde and Brandon Foster.
The Lions came on strong in the second period, scoring another six goals.
Daniel Renaud (from Gareth Cochrane) got the go ahead goal. That was followed by unassisted counters from Jared Gibson, Derek Hutt, and Andrew Beatson. Gareth Cochrane counted with help from Beatson and Daniel Davidson.
Zac Lalonde scored the only goal, unassisted, in the third period, for the 8-1 Lions’ win.
Sunday, February 7th, the Lions visited Kemptville to take on the Panthers #2 team and came up short by a 4-1 count.
Down 3-0 after two periods of play, Derek Hutt scored the Lions’ lone goal unassisted in the third period.
Back at home on Wednesday, February 10th, the Lions hosted Smiths Falls Bears #2 team and came up with a very solid 7-1 win.
The Lions got it together, after being down 1-0 at the end of the first period.
They scored four goals in the second period and three more in the third for the 7-1 win.
Scoring for the Lions were Brandon Foster (two), Brendan Gallivan, Dylan Dejong, Nick Tupper, David Baird and Derek Hutt.
This year’s Midget B House roster consisted of Ryan Gilmer, Kyle Gallinger, Brendan Gallivan, Daniel Davidson, Andrew Beatson, Brandon Foster, Gareth Cochrane, Derek Hutt, Cole Veinotte, Jason Gallinger, Luc Plumandon, Jared Gibson, Dylan Dejong, Daniel Renaud, Zac Lalonde, David Baird, Nick Tupper, Andrew Morris. The coaching staff included coach Mitch Hutt, assistant coaches Kyle Weegar and Bryan Cochrane, trainer Lori Davies, manager Lorie Hutt, and assistant manager Drew Hutt.
The Lions opened their playoff series last night against Smiths Falls but details were not available at press time.
