Morrisburg Arts and Crafts show draws rave reviews
MORRISBURG – Crowds attending the 2009 Morrisburg and District Arts & Crafts Association Christmas Show held November 13-15 at the Morrisburg Legion found a wonderland of colourful booths and outstanding gift ideas and collectibles to explore. “We’ve had a full house today,” said Linda Schenk, president of the Association when the Leader dropped in to the show on Friday afternoon. “We have 29 crafters this year, more than we’ve had in the last few years and they’re all outstanding exhibitors. The public response has been great.”
The skills and talents on display covered a wide range from hand painted jewelry boxes, to hand crafted beading, original necklaces and earrings. There were beautiful floral displays, glass work, rag blankets, clothing, Christmas decorations and unusual ceramic designs as well as striking photography and delicious custom foods. Ambrosio’s Memory Bears and Anne Marie Elliott’s life like dolls attracted many interested visitors. There was a bake table and tea was also available to shoppers.
This year’s Arts & Crafts show also helped out worthy community causes. The 2009 Christmas show was able to donate $900 to three area groups. Earlier in the fall, the Association gave $200 to Seaway District High School towards a graduation bursary. Another $200 was given to the Dundas Hospice Friday afternoon. Also on Friday, representatives of Winchester District Memorial Hospital were on hand to accept a generous donation of $500 from the Association.
