MORRISBURG – “Santa Claus is coming to town!”

Only  a few days to go before the arrival in the village of Morrisburg of a very popular and jolly gentleman in red. We’ve learned, directly from the North Pole elves, that Santa Claus himself will be taking time from his Workshop to visit our town this Saturday, December 5. He’s going to be part of an exciting and colourful parade which will begin at 11 a.m.

One of Santa’s helpers, parade organizer George Davies, promises that whatever the weather, the 2009 Santa Claus Parade in Morrisburg is going to be one of the biggest and best yet. There will be at least four marching bands (including a large combined cadet band), nearly 40 exciting and bright floats, and many well loved and well known cartoon and Christmas figures walking along the route. Of course, Santa himself will be riding in his sleigh at the end of the parade ready to wish every child, and every young at heart adult, all the best this holiday season.

Davies is very pleased with the parade support he has received from area businesses and individuals; he points out that a number of local service organizations are also turning out to assist in the parade. With great weather predicted for Saturday, the 2009 Santa Claus Parade December 5 should be a real crowd-pleaser.

The 2009 parade leaves from the parking lots at Giant Tiger, Canadian Tire and the St. Lawrence Lodge. It will wind its way along Fifth Street to Augusta and then on to First, Ottawa and Maud Streets. It will head to the shopping centre along Sir James Morris Drive, passing by the Hartford Retirement Home, and ending up at the Morrisburg Fire Hall.
