Santa making Iroquois visit December 19
IROQUOIS – He’s made a list and checked it twice, and he’s decided there are lots of good boys and girls in Iroquois.
Yes, Santa Claus himself will be dropping into the Iroquois Shopping Plaza on Saturday, December 19, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
The jolly old gentleman in red will leave his sleigh parked as he arrives at his workshop aboard a shiny Iroquois Fire Department truck, escorted by the O.P.P. He will be serenaded by members of the Seaway District High School music department as he drives into the plaza under new Christmas lights provided by South Dundas.
Santa will visit with all the Iroquois boys and girls, helped by his elves, at his workshop. He promises to listen to everyone’s Christmas wishes and, with the help of Byers Furniture, to pass out little gift bags to each child.
Santa is being supported this year by the Iroquois-Matilda Lions and by the Iroquois Legion, as well as the Iroquois Business Group. They will be offering free hot dogs and hot chocolate to all children visiting Santa.
And Donald Barkley will delight children and parents with free wagon rides around town in memory of his brother, the late Charles Barkley.
There are also some special draws taking place on the occasion of Santa’s visit to Iroquois.
Morrisburg Canadian Tire is holding a draw for a new toboggan; the Business Group is sponsoring a draw for a giant toy-filled stocking; and, just so adults know that Santa hasn’t forgotten them, Foodland Iroquois is sponsoring the draw for a beautiful Christmas basket.
Children are all invited to come to the Iroquois Plaza on December 19 by 1 p.m. to meet Santa Claus, and to enjoy a down home Christmas celebration.
