MORRISBURG –  First I have another letter of thanks to all who supported our barbecue on January 29. Despite the cold, cold night, Jeff, Lee and Ronnie cooked up 82 steaks. Donna and Elsie kept the kitchen going, while Anna worked behind the scenes, and Greg made last minute runs to the store. And a big thank you to the generous people who provided the salads. All of these fund raisers allow Branch #48 to continue to support various causes in Morrisburg and the surrounding area.

Our 2010 memberships are in. If you have not yet picked up yours, they are available at the bar. In our Early Bird Draw, Harland Veinotte took first and received a full membership refund. Arlene Darrach was second and Sydney Smith came in third, both ladies winning money.

Our Ladies Auxiliary meets on February 3 in Fraser Hall, with an executive meeting in the Hall on February 9 at 7:30 p.m. These meetings are very important in the running of the Branch’s business, and it is vital that everyone makes an effort to attend.

Super Bowl Sunday is fast approaching. Come out and join us for a day of fun with friends, and the opportunity to watch the game on the big screen.

Zone euchre play in Cardinal saw the men’s team of Terry Laurin, Mo Praine, Lee Beaupre and Keith Johnson move forward. They will play District at Chalk River. The date for this match is in March. This same foursome is also going to Tamworth on Saturday, February 6, to take part in the District cribbage tournament.

A recent meat draw winner was Gary Murphy. Enjoy!

Bingo on January 28 saw 52 brave souls come out in that storm to play their favourite game.

Thursday’s lunch will be beef on a bun with vegetables, while Friday’s lunch will once again be Margaret’s Montreal Smoked Meat on rye, or Oktoberfest sausage. Both meals come with sides.

Cards for comrade Ferguson would be appreciated.
